The Vienna Christmas markets 2026/27 open in stages from 6 November. This overview lists confirmed dates, opening hours, how to get there and which markets carry on over the holidays or until 6 January 2027.

Staggered opening in November 2026
The 2026 dates are officially confirmed. Opening is staggered across 6, 13, 14 and 20 November.
On 6 November 2026 Schloss Schönbrunn and the Stephansplatz Christmas market open. On 13 November come Rathausplatz, Am Hof, Art Advent am Karlsplatz, Spittelberg, Campus Altes AKH, Türkenschanzpark and Schwarzenbergplatz. The Freyung starts on 14 November. Maria-Theresien-Platz and the Wintermarkt am Riesenradplatz open on 20 November.
The Schloss Belvedere Christmas market is not taking place in 2026. The forecourt of the Upper Belvedere is a building site because of step-free rebuilding work and a new visitor centre. No dates have been confirmed for the k.u.k. Weihnachtsmarkt am Michaelerplatz for 2026.

Schloss Hof Christmas market in Lower Austria
Schloss Hof is in the Marchfeld in Lower Austria, around 50 km east of Vienna. Schloss Hof 1, 2294 Schloßhof. 14 Nov – 20 Dec 2026, every weekend plus 7 and 8 December. On market days 10:00–19:00 (14/15 Nov, 21/22 Nov, 28/29 Nov, 5/6 Dec, 8 Dec, 12/13 Dec, 19/20 Dec); no time was available for 7 December. By car via the A4 and B49; by rail via Marchegg (ÖBB) plus regional bus or taxi. Organiser: Schloss Hof (Schönbrunn Group).
The only market in this overview that charges admission: adults 12.00 EUR, children 6.00 EUR. Prices in euros are guide values from the 2025 season.
Food, drink and the deposit on the Häferl
Prices in euros are guide values from the 2025 season. Hot drinks were mostly between 4.50 and 6.00 EUR. At the Rathausplatz, Glühwein (mulled wine) cost from 4.50 EUR, Punsch (hot spiced punch) from 4.90 EUR and Kinderpunsch from 3.50 EUR. At Stephansplatz around 5.80 EUR, at Schönbrunn and the Riesenradplatz around 5.50 EUR. The deposit on the Häferl, the ceramic mug, was 3 to 5 EUR in Vienna and 5 EUR at the Rathausplatz.
Emphases: Spittelberg vegetarian and vegan, Art Advent am Karlsplatz certified organic, Am Hof Italian specialities and a champagne bar, Türkenschanzpark baked potatoes, lángos and Baumstriezel, Riesenradplatz also food from the Prater businesses.

Day trip to Fertőd, not in Vienna
Story of Lights Fertőd — Schloss Esterházy is not in Vienna but in Hungary, around 100 km away by road. The light park is operated by DECOLED, the publisher of this site. Address: Esterházy-kastély, the Esterházy palace, Joseph Haydn u. 2, 9431 Fertőd, Hungary. 21 October 2026 to 10 January 2027, daily 17:00–21:00, last admission 20:30. Closed on 1 November, 24 and 25 December and 1 January. According to the operator, the season runs under the name Fantasy Garden (Fantáziakert). Advance sales: Mon–Thu from 2 560 Ft concession or 2 960 Ft full price, Fri–Sun from 3 040 Ft or 3 200 Ft.
