Market on the Freyung square between the Schottenstift and Palais Ferstel. The focus is on craft work and nativity scenes. A stage hosts Advent music, a children's programme and craft demonstrations; the programme is published from mid-October.
What to eat and drink here
On offer are punch, mulled wine, roast chestnuts, grilled sausages, Bauernkrapfen doughnuts and pastries. Hot drinks in Vienna in 2025 mostly cost between 4.50 and 6 EUR. A deposit is payable on the mug (usually 3–5 EUR in Vienna).
Prices are what stalls typically charged in the 2025 season and are given as a guide only — the stalls set their own prices and they change every year.
